Another tribute to Gene-- Eugene H. Huish Class Eugene H. Huish was born in Muncie, Indiana on May 30, 1901 and died in East Chicago, April 13, 1960. At the time of his death he was head of the Electrical Department of the City of East Chicago, which position he had held for twenty-three years. Raised to the degree of Master Mason in Indiana Harbor Lodge No. 686, F. & A. M., East Chicago, Indiana on April 27, 1927, Brother Huish served as Worshipful Master in 1938. He was a Knight of the York Cross of Honour, in recognition of his service as Worshipful Master, High Priest of Indiana Chapter No. 159, R.A.M. (1945), Illustrious Master of East Chicago Council No. 101 R. & S. M. (1956) and Eminent Commander of East Chicago Commandery No. 58, K. T. (1952). Receiving the Scottish Rite degrees in January 1947, he immediately became one of our most ardent workers. Space does not permit a complete listing of the organizations, both Masonic and Civic, to which he belonged and in many instances served as its chief officer. The furnishing of the Light was both Brother Huish's vocation and avocation. From the time of taking his Scottish Rite degrees until his death he had at least one or more candidates in each class. Truly a "working" Mason, we honor his works and pay tribute to his memory.
