McCarty Family Cemetery
Cedar Creek Twp., Lake Co. IN
From 1950's DAR Records

This is a very small family cemetery completely hidden from view by mulberry trees and farming area. Miss Ethel Vinnedge of Creston, Indiana, also made the survey and her findings were different from those of Mrs. Joseph E. Brown and Mrs. W.A. McBride are given in parenthesis. Survey made on July 22, 1956. Mr. Dixon Barr, S.A.R., of Crown Point Indiana was also a member of the party which located the site.

The cemetery is about a half a mile south of Creston in Cedar Creek Township on the old McCarty farm, now the property of Richard Hamman. It can be reached by going south on County Road E (the Cedar Lake-Lowell Road), turning west at the sign which designated Lake Dale-Carlia, and going about a quarter of a mile. The cemetery is on the south side of the road; there is a narrow worn lane which leads around the area.
