PURPOSE:
The Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization whose objectives are to collect, preserve and disseminate knowledge and information with reference to genealogy, history, biography and heraldry; to promote and sustain interest in the study of these fields; to pool interest and aid individual members of the Society; and to issue publications relating to genealogy.

SPECIAL PROJECTS:
Indexing of Naturalization records of Porter and Lake Counties, Indiana. Publication of the cemetery records of Porter and Lake Counties. Indexing of Lake County school enumeration records of 1890 and up.

MEETING SITE:
The Northwest Indiana Genealogy Society meets at the Valparaiso Public Library on the first floor, Lake County Reference Library and other local Public Libraries. The Valparaiso Public Library is said to be the third best Genealogical Library in the state of Indiana.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS:
TWIGS - a bi-monthly newsletter. More info on TWIGS below. Regular meetings are the 3rd Saturday of each month. Genealogical forms at substantial savings. Free queries. Indexed pedigree charts of former and current Society members. Trips to Libraries and Museums.

MEMBERSHIP PERIOD:
The membership year is July 1 to June 30. Any application received after May 1 will be applied to the following year.

ONLINE MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION:
An easy to print application is now available online for those interested in membership. It is in text (.txt) format. Follow the link below, click "File" at the top left of your browser screen and choose "print". Simply fill it out, enclose your check or money order and send to the address on the MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION.

"TWIGS", our Newsletter will be mailed to each dues paying member 6 times a year: July, September, November, January, March and May. Back issues can be order for $3.00 per year. Queries are free to members and non-members, members having priority for space.
Solicited for publication in TWIGS: Marriage, birth, death records, abstracts of wills, historical articles, books for review and news of Genealogical groups or information of interest. These items will be published if information is sent to the editor by the 15th of the month before publication".
