FORMER LOWELL LADY DIES
  Word has been recieved here of the death of Mrs Elmer Hayden at her 
home in Azuza, Calif. last friday Dec.18th. Mrs Hayden was the daughter 
of Mr and Mrs John Smith and was born and raised west of Lowell
She was 66 yrs. old. Mrs Hayden, with her family formerly lived in 
Lowell, and was a most highly respected lady who had a host of friends 
here at her former home who will regret to hear of her death.
  About 15 yrs ago she, with her family, moved to Calif, where she had 
since made her home.
  She leaves to mourn her in death, one daughter, Mrs Cors Belt, and one 
son Floyd, both of calif., 2 sisters, Mrs Alvin Beckler, of Grant Park,
Ill. and Mrs Robert Hayden, of Providence Forge,Va; three brothers 
Ansel and Darius,of Grant Park,Ill. And Daniel Smith, of Illinois, Ill.

Thanks for notice of the obituary.  It was helpful (Elmer Hayden would have 
been my father's third cousin).  I had to study the obituary carefully 
before realizing it must have been in 1925 (based on the age of the 
deceased).   It might be helpful to add this to the obituary since other 
interested people may not have Mrs. Elmer Hayden's birthdate.  My records 
show that according to the 1900 census, Mrs. Hayden was born May1859.  She 
was the former Nancy Jane Smith and married Elmer Hayden in Kankakee Co., 
IL on 4 Dec 1878.  I have Cora rather than Cors for the name of the 
daughter, although the latter could be a nickname.

I should also thank Nancy for the marriage notice for Henrietta 
Baughman/Paul Macy marriage.  You may have noticed that I had submitted 
Henrietta's obituary earlier.  This also adds information I didn't 
have.  Henrietta and Elmer Hayden were 2nd cousins, both descendants of 
John Ritter (my ancestor) of Tuscarawas Co., OH.
