Lake County, Indiana obituary Mrs. Mary Aszmongya One of Gary's first city matrons, Mrs. Mary Aszmongya, age 56 of 557 Virginia, died in Methodist hospital late Saturday following a long illness. A resident of Gary for 34 years, Mrs. Aszmongya was named to the post of city matron by the late mayor, Thomas E. Knotts, and held that position until he left office at the beginning of 1914. She was a member of St. Emeric's church and of St. Emeric's society. Mrs.Aszmongya is survived by her husband, John; a daughter, Mrs. (Margaret) William Barrack (should be Barrick); seven brothers, Charley Dembosky, Martin, Andrew, Joseph, Stephen and George, all of Gary, and Captain Anthony Dembosky of the United States army; one sister, Sister M. Onierita of the order of Notre Dame, stationed in Arcadia, Wis, and two grandchildren. The body was taken to the Lach and Stillinovich funeral home and will remain there until...tomorrow morning, when it will be taken to St. Emeric's church for funeral services at 9:30. Rev. Geza Gyorfy will officiate, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery. The rosary will be said in the funeral home at 8 o'clock tonight.
