OBIT-GERALD CHILDRESS Gerald Childress, aged 92, passed away Sun.,Oct. 3, 1993. He is survived by: his wife Jessie (Johnson) Childress; one son, Lewis (Anita) Childress of Lowell; three daughters, Marjorie(Charles) Osburn; and Barbara(Gene)Rust both of Hebron and Geraldine (Carl) Thompson of South Bend; three stepsons, Kenneth (Gretchen) Johnson of Lake Forest Ill; James(Candi) Johnson of Lowell and Herbert(Darlene)Johnson of Estero, Fla.; one stepdaughter Joyce Timmes of Estero, Fla. 23 grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Rose Childress on Sept. 27, 1979. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at the First United Methodist Church in Lowell, with Pastor John K. Worthington officiating. Burial followed at West Creek Cemetery in Lowell. Visitation was held from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Oct. 5 at Sheets Funeral Home, Lowell. Gerald Childress was the son of Lewis A. Childress and Julia V.(nee Dickey) Childress. A farmer, he was a member of the First Methodist Church in Lowell for over fifty years, a member of the Indian Trail Grange in Lowell, and the Farm Bureau, and a past member of the Agriculture Conservation and Stabilization Committee.
