Lake Co., IN Obit Charles Thompson This community was greatly shocked last Saturday morning when it was learned that CHARLES THOMPSON, formerly of Lowell, had passed away very suddenly at his home at 525 Sibley St., Hammond. He came home from his work the night before and seemed to be in his usual health. Later in the evening he was taken with a severe pain in his head. A doctor was summoned and did everything he could to relieve him, but he passed away at about 2am. An inquest was held and a post mortem showed that the cause of death was hemorrhage of the brain and an enlarged heart. CHARLES FRANKLIN THOMPSON, eldest son of AMOS P. and CELESTA E. THOMPSON, was born in West Creek township, Lake county, Indiana, on March 21, 1872. His demise came very unexpectedly in the early morning hours of April 21, 1928, at the age of 56 years and 1 month. With the exception of a few years in Michigan his life was spent in the surroundings of his birth place. On October 18, 1890 he was united in marriage to MISS LUCY V. GRILLS, of Bangor, Michigan, a faithful and helpful companion who still survives him. To this union were born three children, MRS. ALICE M. FULLER of Hammond; GLEN WILLIAM, who died in infancy, and MRS. VELMA G. MAUCH, of Benton Harbor, Michigan. CHARLES THOMPSON was a man of sterling character, of high principles and a good citizen. His characteristics of good nature and friendliness made him well liked in the community in which he lived and among his associates with whom he worked for the past 10 years as an employee of the Standard Oil Co., of Whiting, Ind. He was a member of the M.E. church of Lowell, having entered his membership on February 8, 1906 under the pastorate of REV. DUNNING IDLE. He was also a member of Lowell Lodge, No. 245, Odd Fellows. Of his immediate family who mourn his untimely going are, his wife, two daughters and six grandchildren, one brother, and three sisters, who wait to meet and greet him again in a better world beyond. Funeral services were held at the home in Hammond. REV. V. V. HACKLEY, pastor of the Lowell M. E. church, conducted the services. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery in charge of Undertakers Sheets and Son. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
