Lake Co., IN Obituary ----------OBITUARY NOTICE----------- Death of Mrs. Jacob Fauser Mrs. Christina Fauser died of heart trouble at her home, three miles southeast of this place, on Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock, at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 8 days, leaving of the family surviving her husband, four sons and six daughters. The deceased landed in New York from Germany in 1857 and in '59 married Mr. Fauser. In 1865 they came here and settled on their present farm where they have resided ever since--about 44 years. She was a sister of John and Matt Houk. The funeral was held at the home on Thursday at one o'clock, after which the remains were laid at rest in the Crown Point cemetery. Excerpt from the Old Settler and Historical Association of Lake County, Indiana reports from 1906 to 1910: -----Page 77------ Died on Monday, August 9th, at her home, a few miles southeast of Crown Point, Mrs. Jacob Fauser, daughter of John and Barbara Houk, born in Wurttemberg, Germany, November 1st, 1835, coming with her brother, Mathias Houk, to the State of New York in 1859. She was married August 28th 1859, nearly fifty years ago, to Jacob Fauser, and came to Lake County in 1865.
