Barbara Houk, mother of Jacob, John, Matthias, Christina, Barbara, 
Catherine, and George, the latter a resident of Beecher, Illinois, 
was found dead in bed at her son John's on Sunday morning, having 
died so peacefully that she was first supposed to be asleep, lying 
as she always did when sleeping, with one hand under her head. She 
went to bed as well as usual, but her task on earth had long since 
been completed, and her sudden taking away was not a surprise. She 
had reached the ripe old age of 91 years last November and had been 
in  American since 1859. She has been blessed with good health all 
through life and has been a comfort instead of a care to her children 
during her whole life. She has 48 grandchildren, and 10 great grand 
children living. She has two daughters dead and one living, Mrs. 
Jacob Fauser.

The funeral took place at the German Evangelical church on Tuesday.
