Lake Co., IN Obit BENJAMIN F. PALMER, oldest son of ADELBERT and MARIETTA PALMER, was born at what is now Creston, December 14, 1851, and passed away at the Gary M. E. hospital June 13, 1930, at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 29 days. He was united in marriage to HELEN EDGERTON, September 14, 1873, who passed away April 12, 1875. One son, born to this union passed away at the age of three months. He was married to IDORA HOWARD at Hastings Nebraska, Oct 5, 1879. To this marriage three children were born - two sons, JAMES and ADELBERT, the latter passing away when about seven years of age, and one daughter, LULU, who died at the age of 18 months. In 1921 he united with the First Presbyterian church in Hammond and has held his membership in the church since that time. The deceased was a man who had the respect and esteem of a large circle of friends over the entire south end of the county and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife; one son, JAMES, of Milwaukee, Wis.; five brothers - JAMES, of HAMMOND; JOHN, of Chicago; CHARLES, of Lowell; GRANT, of El Segundo, California; JASPER, of Hammond, and one sister, MRS. ELMER E. RAGON, of Crown Point. Funeral services were held at the Weaver funeral home Saturday at 2pm. REV. THOMAS ADKINS, of the Crown Point Presbyterian church, conducted the services. Interment was made in the Creston cemetery, in charge of Weaver and Son.
